Overview

Plot 4 at East Midlands Distribution Centre is located where the cooling towers for the former Castle Donington Power Station were positioned. The cooling towers were demolished in the late 1990’s but the remaining water inlet was 5m below ground level. 39,000m³ of concrete was reclaimed from breaking out the water inlets and reused on site as part of 71,000 m³ of earthworks remodeling and stabilisation.

Following the earthworks, the construction of a 342,741 sq ft storage and distribution facility with 13,873 sq ft of office space, and a 3,638 sq ft hub office building. External site works include service yard, 29 dock levellers, 318 car parking spaces, 82 cycle spaces, landscaping, and drainage works.
